Three and two last night. Seven on the Board tonight, three arms and four bats, and every one of them is priced under the cap.
Wacha is the one I like most and the price makes no sense to me. He has gone past seventeen and a half outs in 21 of 28 starts, Kansas City has not pulled him under 90 pitches since July, and Arizona is a .707 OPS lineup that walks less than nine percent of the time. Fanatics has him at minus one oh seven. I would play him to minus one thirty.
De La Cruz is the bat, and yes, it is Skubal. That is why he is minus one forty instead of minus two hundred. He has a hit in 70 percent of his games this year and 17 of his last 20, and he leads off, so he gets the starter three times before anyone else does. The price already pays you for the matchup.
Chandler and Bibee are the two arms riding on the Ladder tonight, and both are here on their own numbers. Chandler is fifteen outs or more in 18 of 26 and five of his last six against a White Sox lineup that strikes out a quarter of the time. Bibee is 19 of 29 over sixteen and a half, four of his last five, and threw eighteen scoreless outs at this same Baltimore lineup in April.
Lewis, Hicks and Rocchio are the smaller plays. Lewis has a hit in 65 percent of his games and gets Drew Anderson, who has cleared fourteen outs in three of eight, so the Twins see the bullpen early. Hicks leads the Rays at .313 and has hit in 13 of his last 20. Rocchio is 12 of his last 20.
Two names I cut that were on the shortlist: Stowers sat out a game four days ago with hamstring tightness and has been DH only since, and Greene is a week off a hamstring IL stint. Both had the season rate. Neither had the legs, and I am not putting a hit prop on a hamstring.
No first-inning play tonight. I did not get a clean read on it and I would rather say that than force one.
